Web Cam

The St Augustine Alligator Farm, in partnership
with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, has
installed a new web cam to feature its wading
bird rookery. Visitors to the web site, www.AlligatorFarm.com.
com, can watch the birds build their
nests and raise their young as the season progresses.
The nestcam sits high on top of a thirty
foot pole and has spectacular views of the birds
in the trees, the visitors on the boardwalks, and
the alligators in the swamp below. The wood
stork population is the main focus of this project.
These endangered birds were in serious peril
after much of their nesting habitat was destroyed
by urban development in South Florida. The
Farm’s wood stork population has been increasing
every year and it is anticipated they will do
the same in 2004. In this issue...
